Tom Tom GO 720
The TomTom GO 720 has a freshness about it's somewhat unique design, something that other GPS companies should take note of. Facing the front, it's largely a rectangular shape top that arches slightly. Measuring in at a sprightly 4.6 x 3.2 x 0.9 inches in dimension, the GO 720 weighs in at around 7.8 ounces. It's available in charcoal gray, black or silverwith a 4.3-inch anti-glare touch screen, offering a resolution of 480 x 272 which gives sharp, bright color maps. A USB port and SD memory card slot are included, with the speaker at the back of the unit. Power is from a lithium polymer battery, lasting up to 5 hours on a single charge.
If you have a Bluetooth cell phone, hands-free calls are possible directly through the Tom Tom GO 720. The 720 features a 20-channel SiRFStarIII GPS receiver and 2GB of internal memory. There are also multimedia features, including an image viewer, music player, document reader, and not forgetting iPod compatibility.
the TomTom GO 720 features a new function called Map Share. This allows you to customize your map, including points of interest and then share it with other drivers. The Find Alternative option was particularly useful as it allows you to plot a new course on the fly. Maps can be displayed in 2D or 3D while standard text and voice-guided turn-by-turn directions, including text-to-speech functions are also available. The GPS supports up to 36 different languages. To personalize the device, you can download celebrity voices or even your record you own voice.
Performance wise, the GO 720 is pretty quick, where it gave directions and recalculated routes rather quickly. The maps and points of interest are also very comprehensive. Other added features include the Buddies feature, which allows you to locate other TomTom users and text-to-speech functions. Overall the TomTom GO 720 offers an impressive amount of features to go with its respectable GPS performance.
